- About Our Club: The Navasota Noon Lions were formed in 1987 by a local group of citizens intent on contributing to the community of Navasota through a variety of charitable causes. The Noon Lions are committed to the goals set forth by the International Lions Club leadership, and can proudly point to 23 years of 100% participation and achievement in the goals set forth by the International Lions Club.
- About Our Community: Navasota is a town of approximately 8,500 people, located 70 miles northwest of Houston. In many ways, Navasota has not changed a great deal over the past forty years and still retains the charm of small-town America. Growth, however, seems inevitable with nearby Houston rapidly expanding and outgrowing its borders. Navasota is not a wealthy community, but rather is a community of hardworking citizens, and the Noon Lions sponsor a number of events annually with the goal of assisting the underprivileged in our community. - When We Meet: First and Third Tuesdays at noon; Second Tuesday evening at 6:00pm
History of Our Club
The Navasota Noon Lions Club came into creation in March 1987. Now twenty years later, two charter members remain active in the club -- Dr. Dick Butler and Billy Lunsford. In 1990, the Noon Lions went coed. Among the women who broke the gender barrier, Lillian Rushing continues active in the club, currently serving as the Treasurer and Tail Twister.
